DEVELOPED IN HONOR ON REQUEST
Absinthe Zeitgeist and Wolfsmilch was named by Hans Ruedi Giger, and inspired by a book called „HR GIGER and the Zeitgeist of the Twentieth Century“ written by Stanislav Grof. The book is the first one of its kind to analyze Giger's visionary world from a psychological perspective.
Hans Ruedi Giger died on May 12, 2014 at the age of 74 – his work, inspiration and unique taste will never be forgotten. The book „HR GIGER and the Zeitgeist of the Twentieth Century“ and ABSINTHE ZEITGEIST & ABSINTHE WOLFSMILCH were the last projects he worked on.

Preserving the authenticity and originality of Swiss absinthes is important to us. Our products are distilled from 100% natural ingredients in sustainable processes and by hand by former moonshiner families from the Val-de-Travers. The work is just as sophisticated today as it was in the past and the enthusiasm and love for absinthe is also unchanged. Products that are carefully and locally made and always presented in style.
The secret of the Absinthe La Valote Martin lies in the appreciation for the product, its history and its region. In 1910, the absinthe production was banned by the Swiss government however many clandestine distillers kept the tradition alive.
Francis Martin was one of them and when the ban was lifted in 2005, he decided to produce absinthe in accordance with the law, maintaining the authenticity of the product and the region. His recipe has not changed, absintheurs appreciate it as ever before. The eldest among them can often be caught saying that it reminds them of the Absinthe of their youth.
NOTES TO THE CREATION
Switzerland was guest country at the book fair 13 – 16 March 2014. The artist H. R. Giger is honored in Leipzig with an exhibition and a book. In order to make it easier to bear or get intoxicated by the pictures, SWISS CRAFT DISTILLERS (Absinthe Distribution), under the responsibility of Michael Widmer, brings out the two absinthes “Zeitgeist” and “Wolfsmilch” in honor of Giger. Because the “Green Fairy” was also invented in Switzerland and was the overarching theme at the Book Fair. It is even served at some corners of the Book Fair and the parallel WGT.
With a humorous speech, Minister of Culture Alain Berset launched Switzerland’s largest cultural presence in Germany since the late 1990s. At the opening of the Leipzig Book Fair on Wednesday, Berset spoke, among other things, about «confusing» Switzerland.
The Absinthe Distribution Team from Solothurn was right in the middle with the new HR Giger Absinthe Wolfsmilch and Zeitgeist and sponsored the opening aperitif.
